My humans had planned to take me to the Dog Friendly Guadalupe Getaway on the beautiful Guadalupe River in Seguin, Texas. Even though I crossed the Rainbow Bridge before we could go, I know it would have been an adventure we all would have treasured. I can picture the cozy riverfront home, the fully equipped kitchen overlooking the water, and the spacious living areas where everyone could gather after a day of exploring. But what would have excited me most was everything outside. A fully fenced backyard, direct river access, a fishing dock, kayaks, and peaceful places to watch my humans enjoy the Guadalupe River before relaxing together around the fire pit under the stars.
I know the balcony overlooking the river would have become my favorite spot. I can imagine sitting beside my humans each morning, feeling the breeze and watching the water flow by. Although my paws never had the chance to visit this special place, my heart was already packed for the journey. I hope my humans still go, make wonderful memories, and think of me as they enjoy the river. I'll always be with them in spirit, sharing every adventure from just beyond the Rainbow Bridge.

I may not have been able to take that river adventure on the Guadalupe River in Texas with my humans, but I hope my story helps other families protect their four-legged friends. Blue-green algae, also called cyanobacteria, has formed in parts of the Guadalupe River watershed before, reminding us that even beautiful waterways can have hidden dangers. Dogs like me don’t know when water may be unsafe—we just want to swim, play, and be part of the adventure. Before letting us near the river, please check local water conditions, watch for signs of blue-green algae such as green water or surface scum, and keep us away from areas that may be unsafe. A little extra care can help make sure every adventure ends with happy memories, healthy pups, and the people we love by our side.
