If you’re planning a vacation with your pup, Luie Boone has the perfect destination for you: Georgetown, Washington, D.C. It’s a place full of charm, history, and plenty of dog-friendly fun. Nestled along the Potomac River, Georgetown offers cobblestone streets, leafy parks, and peaceful trails. There's no better place for walks, playtime, and photo ops... even if Luie Boone will never cooperate with the camera.

This historic D.C. neighborhood blends natural beauty with a welcoming atmosphere for dogs and their humans. There are wide riverside paths and quiet wooded trails, which make it easy to enjoy a slow morning stroll or a more active adventure. And with views of the water and ancient stone bridges, there’s always something beautiful to take in.

After a good walk, Georgetown makes it easy to relax. Many local shops and boutiques welcome dogs inside, often with water bowls or treats. Outdoor cafés and patios are common, and several go the extra mile with dog menus or pup cups. It’s not unusual to see dogs lounging under tables, while their humans enjoy coffee or a meal. Luie Boone would be sat up straight, using those cute brown eyes of his to beg for some tasty snacks.

For some off-leash fun or a break in the shade, small neighborhood parks are great places to stop and socialize. Locals are friendly, and they might even be willing to share some insider knowledge on the best dog-friendly spots to sniff out.

If your pup needs a little pampering after all fun you two get up to, you can find grooming salons offering everything from quick washes to full spa treatments.

Whether you're wandering historic paths, relaxing by the river, or enjoying a treat at a sidewalk café, Georgetown offers the perfect mix of city charm and dog-friendly comfort.

What does Luie Boone think of this rental? He woofed:

Exciting news! My paw-rents are talking about going on vacation to Georgetown in Washington, D.C. I haven’t even packed Roger, my trusty otter, but I’m already wagging my tail like crazy. There's a beautiful house with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a sofa bed, which means lots of space for the whole pack. Plus, plenty of sunny spots for me to nap. The backyard sounds amazing, with it's grill, a deck, and a fenced-in yard where I can sniff around, chase birds, and keep a close eye on those sneaky squirrels. My humans are excited about the private parking and something called smart locks. I’m mostly excited about the fresh air, quiet mornings, and bonus belly rubs. Want to know what's even better? The location has a walk score of 98, which apparently means we’ll be close to everything. Shops, restaurants, and the Potomac River, here we come! Honestly, this feels like the kind of place I’ll settle into fast. Oh, and don’t worry, Rachel, my human sister who went to Marquette, knows we’re staying right next to her arch-nemeses, the Georgetown Hoyas. She says she’ll survive… but I’m pretty sure I’ll be there with extra tail wags, and the occasional snout on her lap to help her cope.

Luie Boone's Pet Peeve about

Georgetown, Washington DC

There's just so much to love about this vacation destination, but there's one thing that's got Luie Boone's leash in a twist. He woofed:

I haven’t been to Georgetown, yet... but I’ve been sniffing out all the details. Everyone says Georgetown is charming and historic, but what really caught my attention was the sidewalk snacks! I’ve heard that the streets are sprinkled with all kinds of delicious leftovers—fries, pizza crusts, taco bits. Basically, it sounds like a dog’s dream, but a human’s nightmare. My humans are already worried that Georgetown will be full of too many temptations that I can’t resist. So here’s my plan. I’ll play it cool, with my head down and tail wagging staying casual, but I’ll always be on full alert. A little sniff here, a quick side-step toward a suspicious napkin there. No sudden moves! It is said that sidewalk snacking is “dangerous.” Something about germs, trash, and emergency vet bills. Ugh. So yes, I’ll try to behave… probably. I’ll stick to the snacks packed just for me. But let’s be honest, if a lone French fry crosses my path, it may not make it out alive.
