When your vacation plans include your pup (as they should), Luie Boone wants to let you know that Jekyll Island is the ultimate coastal escape for both of you. With dog-friendly beaches, scenic trails, and welcoming restaurants, this Georgia gem is an island retreat for pups and their people.

Jekyll Island has some of the most dog-friendly beaches around. They're perfect for a day out with your pup. Driftwood Beach is a must-see with its dramatic landscape and giant driftwood trees. Make sure to snap some great photos of your pup sniffing and exploring all of the natural wonders that the beach provides.

If you're looking for more space to roam, grab your pup's leash and check out the Great Dunes Beach or the Oceanview Beach. Both beaches offer over 20 acres of roaming area, with paved walking trails, picnic areas, and lots of open sand. Luie Boone thinks this would be the perfect spot for a long walk or a game of fetch. He'll make sure to bring along his favorite tennis ball.

With over 20 miles of paved trails, you and your pooch can explore all of the island’s beauty. You can traverse through shaded oak canopies, past marshes, and alongside historic landmarks. Be sure to bring water, so your dog can stay hydrated as they enjoy the sights and smells of the island’s diverse habitats.

After a day of adventure, grab a bite to eat. Dining out with your pup is a breeze on Jekyll Island. Many restaurants offer dog-friendly patios, complete with shaded seating and water bowls to keep your buddy comfortable.

If you're up for a unique adventure, you should consider bringing your pal along on a dolphin-watching tour or fishing charter. Imagine your pup’s ears perked up at the splash of a dolphin or their tail wagging at the thrill of a boat ride. Just be sure to call ahead to confirm any dog policies. As well, be sure to bring a leash, water, and maybe even a towel in case things get a little splashy.

Whether it’s coastal dashes or patio lounging, Jekyll Island makes it easy to bring your best friend along for the ride.

What does Luie Boone think of this rental? He woofed:

I just heard the best news! Do you want to know what it is? We’re going on vacation to Jekyll Island! We'll be staying at a place called Seascape! It’s an oceanfront rental with four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and everything a pup (and my hoomans) could ever want. The master bedroom has huge windows, sunrise views, and a door to a rooftop deck. That'll be the perfect spot for seagull-watching and sunny naps. Best of all, there’s a little path from the house straight down to the beach! I can already picture myself sprinting down it, ears flapping, tail wagging, ready to dig in the sand, and chase the waves. The folks who own Seascape really get it. They leave dog towels and sheets just for visiting poches, like me, so I won’t get in trouble for sandy paws. There's even a side entrance with a walk-in shower, so my humans can get me nice and clean before I get ready for a big, indoor nap by the windows. This place sounds like paradise to me. Paw-dise, actually. I can already tell this trip is going to be pawsitively unforgettable. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to start packing… my favorite toy, Roger the Otter, three tennis balls, and enough treats to tide me over till the tide comes in.

Saint Andrew Beach Park

Take your pal to this park, which overlooks the Jekyll Sound. It provides beach access and has frequent dolphin sightings, as they feed along the currents at Jekyll Point. Luie Boone won't leave until he spots a dolphin!

Sharktooth Beach

This is not a typical beach! Instead of sand, it is covered in a naturally occurring blanket of oyster shells. During high and low tide, these shells are especially pronounced. In low tide, specifically a narrow strip of the muddy bottom of the beach is exposed. This is the best place to dig for shark teeth and other treasures! Luie Boone will be more than ready to get his paws dirty!

You and your best friend can walk along elevated boardwalks to access this beach on Jekyll Island. This beach park offers picnic tables and grills. Other features you will find include dog bag stations, an observation deck, and a freshwater pond known to have an alligator or two. What?! Luie Boone can't believe it. He has cousin named Gator, but he's never met the real deal!

Luie Boone's Pet Peeve about

Jekyll Island, Georgia

There's just so much to love about this vacation destination, but there's one thing that's got Luie Boone's leash in a twist. He woofed:

We’re going to Jekyll Island, Georgia, and I can’t wait! I’ve heard there are sandy beaches to race across, trails full of new smells, and marshy spots perfect for splashing. Total pup heaven, right? Well… almost. Turns out, there are some biting bugs down there that could really mess up my happy pup time. There are mosquitoes that hang out in the marshes and love snacking on dogs like me. Their bites are more than itchy; they can spread heartworms. There are also sand fleas that hang out in damp sand and love to chomp on my tummy. If we don’t rinse me off after beach time, I’ll be an itchy mess in no time! And ticks? Yikes. They lurk in tall grass and wooded trails, just waiting to hop on and dig in to my precious skin! My humans say ticks can make me really sick. So please, when we go, let’s be prepared. We'll bring the dog-safe bug spray, stick to clean trails, rinse me off after beach play, check me for ticks every night, and keep me on my flea, tick, and heartworm meds. I’m so excited to explore Jekyll Island, but I want to do it the scratch-free way!
