I couldn't help but wag my tail every time I heard my humans talking about 'Lake Winnipeg' and 'Grindstone Cabin' and then my favorite words... "dog friendly." I just knew I was going too. I had already imagined the car ride to beautiful Manitoba, Canada, all the new smells, exploring the huge backyard, running along the private beach, and relaxing beside my humans on the spacious lakefront deck. When my humans showed each other the photos, I knew I would have loved it there. A cozy cabin surrounded by trees, a warm fireplace, a bright sunroom overlooking the lake, and peaceful forest trails just waiting to be explored. It sounded like the perfect place for our next adventure together. Then life changed our plans. Before the bags were packed and the adventure began, I had to say goodbye. I know this trip won't be quite what my humans imagined without me by their side. I hope my humans still go. I hope they watch the sunrise over Lake Winnipeg, gather around the firepit under the stars, and make wonderful new memories together. I'll be there in the gentle breeze, the rustling trees, and every smile that finds its way onto their faces. There's just so much to love about this vacation destination, but there's one thing that would have put Luie Boone's leash in a twist and he would have woofed:
My humans had planned a vacation to Lake Winnipeg, and I know I would have been so excited to go with them. I would have loved the new smells, the long walks along the shore, and simply being together as a family. But I also think I would have stayed very close to them because Lake Winnipeg can be a big, wild place. The strong winds and surprisingly large waves might have made me a little nervous, and I probably would have looked up at my humans for reassurance and a gentle pat. Even though we didn't make this trip, I hope my humans would have thought of me if they had watched the waves roll onto the shore. I would have been happiest right there beside them, feeling safe, loved, and part of the adventure. A little piece of my heart will always be traveling wherever my family goes.
