Luie Boone, guess what? It's time to get LUCKY with a vacation to Las Vegas, Nevada. Best known for its bright lights, lively casinos, and endless entertainment, you should know that Las Vegas is more than just that. It's also a surprisingly welcoming destination for hoomans wanting to enjoy the nightlife vibe with their furry friend. Whether you're planning a weeklong getaway or just passing through on a road trip, this city offers a wide range of pet-friendly options.

Many hotels—both on and off the Las Vegas Strip—are dog-friendly. Some offer special amenities to make your pets feel more at home! The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas is one of the few luxury hotels that allow dogs of all sizes. They even have a special dog room service menu. Luie Boone is already drooling at the thought of ordering everything off that menu. He says that what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas... but he might not realize that the extra pounds that he packs on from all those tasty treats are coming home with him to Wisconsin. Another notable hotel is the Vdara Hotel and Spa, which offers a "V-Dog" program that is complete with treats, food bowls, water bowls, and even access to an outdoor dog park!

When it comes to outdoor fun, Las Vegas has several off-leash dog parks, where your pup can burn off some of their pent-up energy. Barkin’ Basin Park is a local favorite. It has large, well-maintained areas for both small and large dogs. Sunset Park, located close to the airport, is another local favorite. It offers shaded spots, agility equipment, and plenty of room to sniff-investigate.

For more adventurous outings, you should consider a short drive to the Red Rock Canyon or to Mount Charleston. These natural areas offer stunning desert and alpine hiking trails, where dogs are welcome to join you. Please just be mindful of the desert heat, especially during the summer. During those warmer summer months, it is best to hike early in the morning or in the evening. No matter what, always bring plenty of water for both you and your best friend. Heat exhaustion and dehydration is no joke!

Time for food? Well, dining with your dog is easier than you might think in Las Vegas. Many restaurants offer dog-friendly patios, especially those located a little away from the Strip. Consider Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar at Town Square. This restaurant lives up to its name with a dedicated dog menu and a welcoming atmosphere. Luie Boone will bark more about that spot later! Big Dog’s Brewing Company is another excellent choice, as it combines craft beers with a pet-friendly patio. When Luie Boone and his hoomans stop there, they'll have to order some extra snacks to keep Luie Boone occupied as his hooman Dad taste-tests every single craft beer.

For treats, Luie Boone recommends Three Dog Bakery. This bakery is a must-visit. It offers dog-safe pastries, cookies, and even birthday cakes! It isn't Luie Boone's birthday, but he'll still take a cake, pretty please.

It is important to note that traveling with a dog in Las Vegas does require some planning. The heat can be extreme, especially in summer. Walks should be scheduled for cooler parts of the day, and dogs should NEVER be left unattended in cars. Be sure to bring travel essentials like a collapsible water bowl, poop bags, and a familiar toy to help your dog adjust. Luie Boone thinks he'll bring one of his best buddies, Mr. Lambchop!

With a little preparation, Las Vegas can be a fantastic vacation spot for both you and your dog. From stylish pet-friendly hotels to scenic hikes and welcoming patios, there’s plenty for you both to enjoy. So, grab your sunglasses and get ready to sniff out the dog-friendly side of Sin City! Luie Boone hopes you don't commit too many sins while there.

What does Luie Boone think of this rental? He woofed:

I'm not a Chic, but, boy, I'm excited to visit the Chic Poolside Retreat in Las Vegas, Nevada. This is a custom villa, and it sounds like an absolute doggie dream! It has four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and sits on a private, gated-half-acre property. That is plenty of space for me to run, roll, and nap without a leash in sight. You know one of the best things about this rental? It’s peaceful and quiet, but still close to all the Vegas action. Personally, the backyard is what I’m most excited about. It has a pool, a hot tub, shady lounging spots, and a BBQ area. That's where I’ll be on dropped-food patrol. Mr. Lambchop, my stuffed lamb is tagging along. He’s hoping to spot his Desert Bighorn Sheep cousins. Inside the rental, there’s Sonos speakers, big TVs, and a giant kitchen. I’m bringing my bed, of course, but I plan to try out every cozy spot. What I love the absolutely most? I’m not just allowed; I’m truly welcome. This place was made with pups like me in mind!

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area

In contrast to a town known for entertainment and gaming, Red Rock Canyon offers outdoor educational and recreational opportunities. This includes hikes, which can range from a few minutes to a full day. Due to the extreme temperatures in the Canyon, please bring water for your doggo.

Just a ways north of what is now known as Las Vegas, there used to be mammoths, lions, and camels roaming! Their history is preserved at the Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument, and it is ready to be discovered! Luie Boone can't wait to sniff out some fossils and smell the history before him.

Luie Boone's Pet Peeve about

Las Vegas, Nevada

There's just so much to love about this vacation destination, but there's one thing that's got Luie Boone's leash in a twist. He woofed:

I know that a vacation to Las Vegas, Nevada, is going to be full of luck and fun. However, I'm hearing that Las Vegas can be a little strange at times. Apparently, there's people on the sidewalks. They like to hand out all these shiny little flyers. Do you want to know what's on them? Well, on these colorful papers, there are pictures of people... people who forgot most of their clothes at home. My hoomans will not be asking for those papers, but they'll probably get handed some anyways. Weird, I don't really get it. I'll probably just sniff one and then move right on. If it's not a menu or a biscuit coupon, what's the point? I'm not impressed by it. But, all those weird fliers aside, I cannot wait for a vacation to Las Vegas. I'll be running free at the Barkin' Basin Dog Park, taking early morning hikes at Red Rock Canyon, and relaxing by the water at Lake Las Vegas. No matter how weird the paper-people might get, I'm still going to have fun!
