My humans had a vacation planned to Holly Harbor in Farmerville, Louisiana, and I was so excited. Sadly, before we could go, I crossed over the Rainbow Bridge, and my humans never made the trip either. But, I had already dreamed about the beautiful lake house and the adventures Ricky, my stuffed raccoon, and I would have had there. Holly Harbor, a cozy rustic cottage, sat on a 1.5-acre peninsula on Lake D'Arbonne with big picture windows, a beautiful deck, porch swing, hammock, dock, and beach area. I imagined Ricky and me watching the sunrise, exploring the shoreline, and keeping an eye on my humans while they fished, swam, and kayaked. The wildlife sounded especially exciting—ducks, pelicans, birds, and even real raccoons visited the property! I couldn't wait for Ricky to meet his wild cousins. I pictured us sitting on the porch at dusk, watching a raccoon wander by and wondering if Ricky was thinking, "Is that family?"

We never made it to Holly Harbor, but it was a vacation I was still excited about. Now that I'm over the Rainbow Bridge, I hope my humans think of me and Ricky whenever they see a beautiful sunrise, hear the waves of a lake, or spot a raccoon.

Luie Boone's Pet Peeve about
Monroe-Ruston Area, Louisiana
There's just so much to love about this vacation destination, but there's one thing that would have put Luie Boone's leash in a twist and he would have woofed:
My humans had a vacation planned to the Monroe–Ruston Area in Louisiana, and I was so excited to go. I couldn’t wait to explore the beautiful lakes, rivers, and bayous with my humans. Of course, Ricky, my stuffed raccoon and one of my best friends, was coming along too. There was just one thing I wasn’t excited about—those pesky Louisiana mosquitoes! I could already imagine them buzzing around my ears. My humans had packed bug spray for themselves, and I was hoping they’d have a plan for me, too! Sadly, I never got to take that trip. Before we could leave, I passed over the Rainbow Bridge. I never got to see Louisiana or share that adventure with Ricky, but I like to imagine that somewhere beyond the Rainbow Bridge, we’re exploring together—with no mosquitoes in sight!
