My humans planned a trip to Minnesota's Arrowhead Region, and I was supposed to go, too. They found a beautiful place called Agate Bay on the shores of Lake Superior, and I know I would have loved every minute of it. With its private cobblestone beach, cozy living spaces, and large deck overlooking the lake, it sounds like the perfect place to explore, relax, and spend time together. I can just picture my humans searching for Lake Superior agates while I sniffed every rock and stick along the shoreline. Inside, there's plenty of room for everyone to gather, from the spacious kitchen and dining area to the comfortable family room downstairs. I heard there's even an incredible cave-like dart room that's unlike any other—a place where friendly competition and laughter are sure to fill the evening. I probably would have been everyone's biggest cheerleader... or the official dart retriever if they'd let me! After a day exploring Grand Marais and the North Shore, it sounds like the perfect spot to unwind together. I won't be making this trip because I've crossed the Rainbow Bridge, but I know my family will carry me with them. As they make new memories at Agate Bay, I hope they smile when they think of me. There's just so much to love about this vacation destination, but there's one thing that would have put Luie Boone's leash in a twist and he would have woofed:
I never actually made it to Minnesota’s Arrowhead Region. I only heard my humans talk about it while they planned the trip. They said it would be full of forests, lakes, and “wilderness”—which sounded like the perfect place for chasing, sniffing, and exploring. Then I heard the rules: no chasing wildlife, stay on the trail, stay close, watch for moose, and absolutely no porcupines.
I didn’t understand. Why tell me about all these amazing creatures and then explain why I shouldn’t introduce myself? My humans wanted peaceful hikes and quiet nature walks. I was imagining a much more exciting adventure. The trip never happened because I crossed the Rainbow Bridge before we could make the journey. But I still like to imagine the trails I would have sniffed, the lakes I would have explored, and the memories we would have made together. One thing is certain—I would have had plenty of opinions about those wilderness rules.
