This vacation destination is a part of our second series of blog posts titled K9 Kind.

Luie Boone's knows of a great way to enjoy a mix of outdoor adventure and indoor relaxation. It's with a vacation to North Conway, New Hampshire! This town has a warm, pup-friendly atmosphere, which makes it easy to include your four-legged friend in every part of the vacation experience.
North Conway is surrounded by the stunning beauty of the White Mountains—a mountain range that covers about a quarter of New Hampshire and also stretches into a small part of western Maine. The range's best-known peak is Mount Washington, which stands as the tallest mountain in the Northeastern United States!
Accommodations throughout the area cater to dog owners, offering everything from hotels with pet-friendly rooms to private cabins with spacious yards. Whether you're looking for a place with trail access or simply somewhere peaceful to unwind after a long day of exploring, there's no shortage of the welcoming options. Luie Boone suggests "Eric's Place" as his top accommodation pick. He’ll share more about the rental below, but he wants to mention now that it’s just a short walk to a secluded sandy beach along the Saco River. Luie Boone knows that he would love swimming there and especially enjoy having his own stretch of sand to dash across and play around sandcastles.
North Conway stands out as a haven for dog lovers who enjoy exploring the outdoors. The area is rich with trails, peaceful woods, and scenic routes that will make every stroll an adventure to remember. From winding forest paths, tranquil waterfalls, and sweeping mountain vistas, the landscape offers something new to see around every corner. Whether you decide to stick to leashed trails or choose to explore spots where your pup can have some off-leash freedom, there's no shortage of beautiful places to wander, play, and soak in the crisp mountain air together.
Beyond the trails, North Conway offers a number of pet-friendly attractions and activities. Outdoor shopping areas and open-air public spaces often allow dogs. There are even a few unique local experiences, where well-behaved pups are allowed to tag along—like the Saco River Tubing Center. Luie Boone's convinced he'd slay floating on a tube, with his water goggles on, soaking in the smells and soaking his furry butt in the water like an absolute pro.
Grabbing a bite with your dog is easy in North Conway. Plenty of places have outdoor seating where pups are greeted with a water bowl and sometimes even a treat or two. On sunny days, it’s totally normal to see both locals and visitors chilling on shaded patios with their dogs by their side, soaking up the good weather (and hopefully some snacks).
So whether you're hiking mountain trails, floating down the river, or just kicking back on the patio with some tasty treats, North Conway is ready to welcome you and your pup with open arms (and probably a doggy biscuit or two). Luie Boone gives it four paws up! He's already dreaming of his visit, where he plans to maybe, just maybe, finally master the art of tubing down the river without flipping his tube and sending his hoomans splashing after him in total chaos.

What does Luie Boone think of this rental? He woofed:
First things first, who the heck is Eric? And what are we doing at his place? I seriously don't know this guy, but, apparently, my paw-rents claim we'd be staying at Eric's Place for our North Conway vacation. There's a big deck fo sunbathing, tons of space for zoombies, and trails right in the backyard. There's even a fire pit, which is where I'll rest my rump and camp out for some marshmallows. I just better not grab a s'more from my human sister Brooke's hand again, or I'm gonna be in big trouble. You want to know the best part? There's a private trail leading to the Saco River, with splash spots for swimming and soft sand for digging. I've also heard there's a beaver named "Cleaver" who lives nearby. Personally, I've never met a beaver before, but if he likes water, I suppose we'll get along just fine. So yeah, Eric—whoever the heck you are—thanks for the invite to stay at your place!
Paws Venture Here

Saco River Tubing Center
At the Saco River Tubing Center, two-legged and four-legged friends are invited to rent a canoe, kayak, or tube to float down the water. The river averages just three feet deep, which makes it easy for owners and their dogs to safely cool off in the water. Check out that pup rocking pink water goggles! Just so you know, I'll be getting my own pair (probably bright orange), because if I'm floating, I'm floating in style, too!

Dahl Wildlife Sanctuary
This is a 56-acre outdoor space, which offers 1.5 miles of trails that you can stroll along with your pooch. It will lead you right beside the Saco River of the Mount Washington Valley.

Whitaker Woods
The Whitaker Woods is a network of almost 28 miles of trails! It creates a park-like woodland for walkers, hikers, and their canine companion.

Green Hills Preserve
At this preserve, you can enjoy incredible views of the Mount Washington Valley, all while hiking with your buddy along more than 50 miles of trails!

Echo Lake State Park
At Echo Lake State Park, your doggo can join you on the hiking trails of Cathedral Ledge and White Horse Ledge. These two trails offer excellent views of the Saco River Valley and the White Mountains. Luie Boone wonders how loud his echo would bark from the tippy-top!

Middle and Peaked Mountains
The Middle and Peaked Mountains are a pair of summits with a well-cared for trail network. This is a very popular area for hiking with your pal.

Cranmore Mountain
At the Cranmore Mountain, you can discover a 3.7-mile out-and-back trail. When you reach the top of the mountain, there is a restaurant with ice cream and beer waiting for you! Luie Boone's paw-rents better not forget their wallets, or he'll have to pull out his best puppy eyes to get some ice cream!

Sea Dog Brewing Company
The award-winning Sea Dog Brewing Company serves a full line of ales, which are brewed in a traditional English style. They also have a full menu of pub fare with flair. Dogs are welcome to dine with their hoomans at a table on the patio and enjoy a treat off of their dog menu. Luie Boone has his eyes on that double burger patty, and he doesn't plan on sharing.
Luie Boone's Pet Peeve about
North Conway, New Hampshire
There's just so much to love about this vacation destination, but there's one thing that's got Luie Boone's leash in a twist. He woofed:
Want to know something I learned about North Conway, New Hampshire? It's beautiful, wild, and a little spiky... yeah, you heard that right. Spiky. Apparently, there are these creatures called porcupines hanging out in the woods. They're these slow-moving, forest-dwelling pincushions. I thought they sounded like funny little critters that I could make friends with, but nope. If you get too close, they don't run. They poke! And those pokes? They hurt. Like, trip-to-the-vet, cone-of-shame, no-more-fun-for-me type of hurt. So, while I'm all in for hiking, sniffing, and splashing, I'm also planning to stay far, far away from anything that looks like a walking hairbrush with legs. North Conway adventure? Absolutely. Me rocking a face full of quills and looking like a pin cushion? Nope, no thank you.
