My humans had planned a vacation to Water Front Delight on the Bay in Norfolk, Virginia, and I would have been right there beside them. Sadly, I never got to make that trip because I passed away before our vacation. My humans loved me so much that after I crossed the Rainbow Bridge, they decided not to take the vacation because it just wouldn't have been the same without me. I know I would have loved racing across the private sandy beach, splashing in the calm Chesapeake Bay waters, and watching my humans fish from the private pier while I happily kept them company. Swimming had always been one of my favorite things, especially when I could share those moments with my human best buddy, Rachel. I would have loved paddling through the bay beside her, playing in the water, and making even more memories together. I could have spent my days exploring every new scent along the shoreline before curling up for a nap while my family relaxed in the spacious waterfront home. They would have enjoyed cooking in the fully stocked kitchen, gathering on the wrap-around porch, and ending each evening watching the sunset reflect across the bay. Most of all, I would have loved simply being with my favorite people. Water Front Delight on the Bay looked like the perfect place to make memories together, and even though I never got to leave my paw prints in the sand, I know my humans will carry me with them in their hearts whenever they are ready to visit this beautiful dog-friendly retreat.

There's just so much to love about this vacation destination, but there's one thing that would have put Luie Boone's leash in a twist and he would have woofed:
My humans had planned a vacation to Norfolk, Virginia, and they were excited to imagine all the places we would have explored together. I would have loved the new smells, the outdoor adventures, and every moment spent by their side. There was just one thing my paws may not have enjoyed: Norfolk’s historic brick sidewalks and uneven streets. My humans would have admired the charm of the old brick paths, but I would have noticed the bumps, cracks, and rough surfaces that could have made walking a little more difficult. After a day of exploring, I would have needed soft grass, shady breaks, and time to rest my paws. My humans would have slowed down, watched my steps, and made sure I was comfortable along the way. Even though I’m no longer there if they would have taken the trip, I know my humans would have carried me in their hearts. Every place will always hold a little piece of the memories we shared together.
