One of the things I loved most about my humans was that they never left me behind. Wherever they went, I went too, and one of the adventures we had planned together was a stay at Straight Outta Dockton in Volusia County, Florida. When my humans found this waterfront getaway, they knew it would have been perfect for me. The fully fenced backyard would have given me plenty of room to explore, while they relaxed by the private pool and patio. The private dock sounded like the perfect place for all of us to spend time together, especially with the chance to spot dolphins swimming nearby. My humans were excited about the large kitchen, outdoor dining area, BBQ grill, and fire pit where they could enjoy meals and evenings by the water. I know I would have been happiest simply relaxing nearby, taking in the salty breeze and keeping watch over my family. Although I never got to visit Straight Outta Dockton, it was one of the places my humans dreamed of sharing with me. If they go and watch the dolphins from the dock or relax by the pool, I hope they'll think of me and all the adventures we had enjoyed together.

There's just so much to love about this vacation destination, but there's one thing that would have put Luie Boone's leash in a twist and he would have woofed:
My humans planned a trip to Volusia County, Florida, and I was supposed to go too. I heard all about the beautiful beaches and sunny days. But I also heard about the heat and humidity. For dogs like me, humidity can be tough because we cool ourselves by panting. When the air is thick with moisture, it's harder for us to cool down, and even a short walk can feel exhausting.
I probably would have spent my days looking for shade, cool water, and a nice air-conditioned spot to relax while my humans enjoyed the Florida sunshine. But the truth is, it wasn't the destination that mattered. My favorite place was always wherever my humans were. I never got to see Volusia County, but I was lucky enough to spend my life surrounded by love, and that's the best journey any dog could ask for.
