This vacation destination is a part of our first series of blog posts titled Pooches Polite.

Nothing compares to the sensation of a cool ocean breeze through your fur, the taste of salty air on your tongue, or the sand between your paws.
Yeah, that's right—Galveston Island, Texas, isn't just for humans! It's for dogs, too!
In fact, it is the ideal vacation destination for you and your four-legged friend with an activity to suit every type of pup. You and your pooch can take a stroll and explore the sandy beaches together, while letting them feel the wind in their fur.
Luie Boone wonders if he can fly a kite in the wind on one of the many beaches of Galveston Island, even though he doesn't have disposable thumbs, just paws. He'll probably end up trying to use his nose to launch the kite, which, let’s be honest, is not the best aerodynamic tool. As he stands on the sandy shore, he'll probably think, "If only I could convince the seagulls to help me!" But they're just plotting to take his kibble.
Each year, a bunch of people and their canine companions dream about visiting Galveston Island (just like Luie Boone), especially because of its nice temperatures, tropical setting, and warm breezes. Galveston Island has you and your dog covered for a barking good vacation! Just don't forget your kite.

It features the following amenities:
Beachfront – There is nothing except sand between you, your dog, and the water
Patio dining with outdoor table (Luie Boone would be staked out here for some tasty snacks)
Charcoal, park style grill located at the ground level
Outdoor shower, where you can rinse the sand off toes and paws

What does Luie Boone think of this rental? He woofed:
We are going on vacation to a barrier island. I guess we will be staying in the Stavanger Beach neighborhood, which can be found on the West End of the island. We will still be only a short drive away from the city. Our rental home is directly on the waterfront. Apparently, views from the property’s deck are unending from both the east and the west. We will be able to watch as the sun rises every morning over the east end of the island. Then, we will be able to watch as it slowly creeps toward the west in the afternoon. We will not paws for long, as the island is calling!

Luie Boone's Pet Peeve about
Galveston Island, Texas
There's just so much to love about this vacation destination, but there's one thing that's got Luie Boone's leash in a twist. He woofed:
On Galveston Island, car-friendly beaches exist, so we need to be careful. Fast-moving vehicles pose a risk to beachgoers and their dogs! Some people tend to drive really fast, too! That's just no good. So if your dog doesn't have a really good recall, it can be highly dangerous to let them run loose! It's important to remember that these beaches are also meant to be enjoyed by dogs. I really hope drivers will reduce their speed and be mindful of others!
